Planning tips for your wedding

The easiest way to organize a successful wedding is to make a plan and stick to it. Of course, there are trends and colors that you need to know about, but there are not the only elements to take into consideration. Here are our tips for planning a wedding.

Get organized and prioritize
Start the planning early and don’t leave anything up to the last second. Get as much done in the first months so the last few months are stress-free. Buy a notebook to keep all the information noted and set specific dates for everything to be done on your list. Set up an email address dedicated to your wedding. In addition to that, choose a day to sit down with your husband-to-be and discuss the wedding details. After all, you should both be involved. Most importantly, take it one-step at a time in a logical order. Don’t book vendors until you have a confirmed date. Don’t order a wedding cake baker before you choose the flower decorations and don’t choose a music band before you have secured a venue.

Get organized and prioritize

The guest list priority
The first thing you need to think about before you book your venue is your approximate number of guests. As a rule, allow around 2.5 m2 per guest. It might seem a lot but not if you are counting the space for the tables, the waiters, the band and the dance floor. To help you choose who to invite, prioritize the people, putting your immediate family and best friends on top of the list. Then come your extended family and close friends and finally your parent’s friends, neighbors and co-workers. That way, if you need to make some cuts, start from the bottom of the list until you reach the right number.

Kids and plus-ones
When comes the time to send out your invitations, two things come to mind: kids and the plus-one scenario. To avoid upsetting some people, you must set out a uniform kids policy. You can either welcome all kids with open arms, make it an adults only wedding, welcome the kids in your immediate family and bridal party, or have a child care service at your venue.
As for the plus-one invites, there are no rules. But if you have a problem with a long guest list then you should evaluate each single person’s status attending. If a person is single and there is a table of singles that she or he knows, then your problem is solved and you don’t have to extend a plus-one invitation. If it’s a table of couples or a table of singles that he or she doesn’t know, consider sending a plus-one invite.

Money counts
There are wedding ceremonies for every budget and if you want to avoid going over the stop with your spending, you need to classify your cash. In general, allocate between 48 to 50% of your cash for the reception, 8 to 10% for the flowers, 8 to 10% for the entertainment and music, 10 to 12 % for the photo and video, 2 to 3% for gifts and 8% for miscellaneous like a wedding coordinator. Bear in mind some unexpected expenses like printing extra invites and additional tailoring needs. They should not make up more than 5 to 10% of your overall budget. But the cash distribution also depends on what you want to focus on the most in your spending. If you always dreamed of wearing designer dress and shoes to your wedding, choose simple invitations and smaller flower arrangements.
