Dear Father,

Today, I’m writing to you for the first time as a married woman, and not only your daughter. It’s not easy to put in words the incredible amount of emotions a woman feels in this phase of her life.

While there’s nothing more beautiful than building a meaningful life with a partner, it stays a long way from rivaling with the lifetime of moments and memories we created and lived together. Now that I’m far, I feel closer to you. Everything you said or did rushes back to me and suddenly makes more sense.

I understand now that who I am today is thanks to you. Forging my own path, I am grateful to have a role model like you to look up to when I raise my kids. Dad, you are my biggest inspiration. From the moment you held my hand trying to teach me how to walk when I was a little girl. To the moment you held my hand when you walked me down the aisle, you have been my strongest support. This shall remain my most beautiful memory: walking proudly by your side, holding your hand tight, torn to let it go.

This letter is all I have, to tell you what I should have told you long ago. Dad, you are my rock and you will always be. A girl’s first love is never replaceable, and in my heart, no one will take your place. I thank you for every day, for every moment, for every sacrifice, and I hope I will always make you proud.
