The holiday season has just come to an end and a new year has just announce itself! And, surprise proposals and engagements filled our social media feeds this holiday season! I don’t know if it’s the festivities or the Christmas spirit but couples all around the world are making it official, and I’m here for it, honestly. So, if you are newly engaged this Christmas, you probably want to start planning your wedding in 2024. Which is why, we have got the perfect guideline for you to make the process much smoother.
1- Let’s Talk Budgets!
Planning a wedding can be hectic and stressful, which is why we recommend you start off with a to-do list. This will help you organize planning your wedding, and will help you put into perspective everything. On your list, make sure to include every little detail so you don’t forget anything. I would recommend you start by priority and proceed accordingly. The most important thing to start with is your budget. How much are you willing to spend on your wedding? This point will prompt a conversation between you and your partner to discuss all details and make important decisions.
Once you set the overall budget, make sure you divide it wisely and by priority. Allocate a part of the budget for everything, including your wedding dress, wedding venue, your groom’s tuxe and so on.
2- Let’s Talk Venues!
Now that you set and divided your budget, it’s time to check your options for venues. To do so, you need to set a date and time for the wedding as it will all vary depending on the season. If you’re considering an outdoor venue, then you better hurry and book a date in spring or early summer. Start looking at venues for the ceremony and reception and book tentative dates in different locations if need be. Most importantly, you need to choose your bridesmaids and groomsmen as they will lend a helping hand with planning your wedding.
3- Let’s Talk Guest Lists!
Here comes the most critical part, especially if you’re tight on budget. This step will also prompt a serious conversation with your partner to set everything straight. Discuss whether you’re going to have a big wedding or an intimate one with close family and friends. In addition, you need to have a discussion with your family, parents, as well.
You wouldn’t want to upset anyone and risk facing family problems on the most important day of your life. With that being said, make sure you invite the people that will genuinely be happy for you and your partner. Forget about traditions and gossips and do what makes you happy. At the end of the day the people who really love you and care for you will be happy regardless.
4- Let’s Talk Wedding Gowns!!
I know you’re probably exciting and want to jump into your shopping right away. However trust me on this, do not get starting with bridal dress shopping as the first step. Your wedding dress should be homogeneous with your wedding theme and venue. Once it’s all set, you can then think of the wedding dress. Now, the most important step, do your research. The worst thing you can do is go blind into your bridal appointment. So, go onto Pinterest and get inspired. Create a mood board or an album of all the styles you might like before booking your appointment.
Once you’ve got everything set, start booking your appointment at the bridal stores you like and let the fun begin!
5- Let’s Talk Decorations!
Moving on to yet another exciting yet stressful detail: the decorations! So, let’s get this straight, shall we?! If you’re looking to match the theme with your bridesmaids’ dresses, then you need to start with that first. In all cases, you need to set a theme and color for the wedding to choose the set-up and decorations. You also need to choose the invitations as well, so it’s crucial to set a theme at this stage.
When we say decoration, it includes the flowers arrangements, table set-ups, chocolates, party favors, wedding invites and so on.
6- Finalization Process!
It’s time to finalize everything! By now you have your venues, wedding dresses, guest list, decoration and all minor details set. So, at this stage you need to pay your down payments and finalize everything. Once all the planning for your wedding is done, you can move onto the most exciting part, the honeymoon! Decide whether you’re having a stay-cation or you’re travelling and start planning, but that’s a discussion for another blog!
Though planning your wedding can be tough and stressful, it’s also fun and joyful. After all, you’re basically planning the start of your entire life, so don’t stress and enjoy the ride. Every thing has it ups and downs so make sure you enjoy every single one of them. Have fun and don’t forget, have the time of your life!
