The Color of the Year 2024: Discover the Trend!
- November 21, 2023
Every year, worldwide experts on style and fashion WGSN and Coloro recognize one color to be the main shade. The forthcoming year's new shade is about refinement and smoothness. It brings out an altogether different inclination to those that have preceded it. Though the Color of the Year 2024 is not the be-all-and-end-all matter, but it's still exciting to recognize it as the New Year approaches.
What is the Color of the Year 2024?
WGSN, the world's leading forecaster of worldwide patterns, and color framework Coloro named Apricot Crush as the Color of the Year 2024. Apricot Crush - or Coloro 024-65-27 - connotes "care, connection, and community" due to what orange represents. It' important to note that this connotation is also due to “nutritional properties of vitamin and antioxidant-rich oranges and apricots”.
Obviously, this year's color is totally opposite to last year's. Apricot Crush is more soothing, clam and optimistic. It sits between orange and yellow, giving the perfect mix and merge between the two. So, we can expect to see this color and its derived shades on the runways, red carpet and on racks! According to WGSN, the Color of the year 2024 is "a warming luminosity to the home, both indoors and outdoors". With that being said, we will also see this shade in home décor items and furniture.
“Its soft, sun-bleached quality will pair easily with neutrals and will be suitable for textiles, glass, bath, and bedroom products,” WGSN adds. “Its playful side will connect with joyful beauty products, fragrance, skincare, and hair color.”
What Colors can be Paired with Apricot Crush?
You might be wondering what can be paired with such a calm color, especially when it comes to putting together an outfit. The color of the year 2024 is a gender-neutral shades, meaning both men and women can wear it. It goes very well with earth-toned like-color shades. Pair it with sage green, chocolate-brown for a neutral look, or with turquoise or fuchsia pink for a pop of color! The beauty of this shades lies in its versatility, so you're free to dress it down or up.
If you're on the look for an evening dress in the color main shade, you can chose this gown! It's a warm-tone color with a deeper shade, perfect for fall/winter events!
This apricot satin gown by Isabel Sanchis is also another option if you want a classy, simple look.
Discover the Trendiest Colors for 2024!
Aside from Apricot Crush, the WGSN names the following as key colors for 2024: Intense Rust, Midnight plum, Sustained Grey and Cool Matcha. So, if you think Apricot Crush is not your cup of tea, or not the perfect shades for you complexion, you can a handful to choose from!
Intense Rust
Intense Rust is a "transseasonal Brown" associated with the feeling of stability, as described by WGCN. It connotes the quiet luxury that started in 2023 and is going strong now in 2024.
Midnight Plum
Midnight Plum is a stunning deep purple that offers a luxurious feeling, as well. It's a futuristic color and is considered to "connect to themes of space exploration and the metaverse".
Sustained Grey
Sustained Gray in the mean time is an establishing shade that lines up with subject of maintainability. It probably won't be the most thrilling variety on the planet, however its enduring allure makes it a significant one.
Cool Matcha
This color screams calmness and serenity, aligned with nature and technology.
What about Color for the Year 2025?
This might come as a surprise for all of us, but the WGSN and Coloro have already chosen the color for 2025: Future Dusk! It's a "dark, moody and intriguing hue, sitting between blue and purple". It's considered to evoke "mystery" and "escapism" with its cool tone.
Keep in mind that though these colors and the main colors for 2024, that does not mean we are to abide by them. The thing is each color will look totally different on each complexion. So, say you're pale with a pink undertone skin, chances are Apricot Crush will wash you out. However, with an olive complexion, that peachy color will do wonder to your skin! It's totally optional and relative to each, at the end of the day, we wouldn't want to follow a trend that does not suit us. So, will you be joining the trend of the Color of the Year 2024? I know I will!!
