When can a wedding veil be worn with a bridal headpiece?
So you are thinking about wearing a veil. But you also think you might want to wear a bridal headpiece. You might be asking yourself “can I wear a headpiece even though I’m wearing a veil?”
This is actually a common question that all the brides-to-be ask and the simple answer is … yes! You can wear both a wedding headpiece and veil at the same time. While we could spend so much time arguing the point, we believe that a picture speaks a thousand words, so let’s show you some images!
Types of bridal headpieces
- Hair Clip: When talking about wedding headpiece with veil, and as we start listing the types of bridal headpieces, the bridal Barrette tops the list! It is a great option if you plan on letting your hair down for the wedding. You'll be able to clip back some of your hair or bangs to keep them out of your face while still showing off flowing curls.
- Crown/Tiara: You can wear these alone or with a veil, and whether your hair is up or down. Not only is a crown or tiara versatile, but if you are planning on wearing a princess gown, there's no better way to complete that look!
- Hair Comb: These work well for accenting an updo or embellishing a simple veil, particularly a birdcage veil. You can also often find a comb to perfectly match your wedding dress.
- Fascinator: This kind of bridal headpiece is perfect for adding a vintage feel to your wedding attire, and can be worn with almost any hairstyle.
- Flower: You can choose this kind of headpiece if your dress has a flower accent! A flower hair accessory would be a good idea for tying together your look. You can get a formal flower pin or clip, or go all natural with a handmade flower garland. On a lighter note, make sure to use the same flower in your bouquet for consistency, though!
- Wedding Hair Pins: If you are thinking of a simple and subtle look that will help keep your hair in place, consider the hair pins that will give you also an elegant up-do and add the perfect touch of sparkle without stealing the show.
More types
- Hats: A hat carries a bit of a retro vibe, but can work really well with certain theme weddings or appropriately replace a veil for some religious ceremonies. On another note, hats are wonderful for outdoor weddings and at the beach as they'll help keep the sun out of your eyes and off your face.
- Hair Ribbon: The brides who want a braided hairstyle, ribbons are the perfect choice for you and can be worn in long or short hair. They tend to appear a little less formal, and fit in great with an outdoor wedding.
- Headband: Headbands can be worn to keep your hair out of your face if you wear your hair down, or provide a subdued crown look with an updo style. If you are a bride with short hair, don’t worry! Headbands are also a flattering choice for you especially if you are not able to wear many of the other types of bridal headpieces.
- Veil: They say, save the best for last and we couldn’t agree more! The veil is a traditional headpiece and a no-brainer for many brides! Some brides are unsure whether they want to stick with this tradition or not! But anyways it’s an easy compromise to satisfy older family members is to wear a veil for just the ceremony and then remove it for the reception!
Now that you got familiar with wedding headpiece with veil, you are now ready to choose from the ones listed above! And now check out this Elie Saab wedding dress!
