Women's day is all about praising and celebrating women who have taken on the world by a storm. It's about recognizing the strength, the struggles and the defeats women had to face to get to where they are right now. Whether it's in the medical field, the business world or the fashion realm, women were nothing short to amazing and deserve to be celebrated everyday. If we ere to celebrate every female around the world, the list will go on and on. So, this March 8th, let's take a look at the most influential leading ladies in the fashion world!
1- Monique Lhuillier
Monique Lhuillier is a Filipino fashion designer and the creative director of her own brand, Monique Lhuillier. Born on September 15, 1971, she grew up in Cebu city and studied at saint Theresa's College. She continued her higher education at the Chateau Mont-Choisi in Lausanne, Switzerland. In 1996, she launched her eponymous brand and relocated to Los Angeles, California.
Her journey in the bridal realm started while planning her wedding. She used her degree in fashion design to create some dresses for her relatives and bridal party. After the party was over, a business card was left for her, so she realized it was time to open her own business. Now, Monique Lhuillier has dresses numerous A-list celebs, such as Blake Lively, Demi Lovato, Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Michelle Obama, Emma Stone, Jennifer Lopez and many others.
2- Ines Di Santo
Believe it or not, Ines Di Santo's love for fashion started at just the age of 5 years old. Di Santo grew up in Argentina, cultivating a love for haute couture, leading her to open her own atelier in Buenos Aires. Other than her mesmerizing designs, Ines' life is one to look up to. At only the age of 23, she has to juggle between the struggle of being a young single mom, a recent immigrant and a hopeful dreamer living in Toronto, Canada. She launched her first bridal collection with a bank loan and a whole lot of ambition which paid off as the collection was sold out within a few days. Today, Ines works alongside her daughter Veronica Di Santo who joined the company in 1998 as managing partner.
3- Georgina Rose Chapman - The Designer behind Marchesa
Georgina Rose Chapman is an English fashion designer and actress. She attended Chelsea College of Art and Design where she met her future business partner, Keren Graig. In 2004, the pair launched their brand Marchesa, named after socialite Marchesa Luisa Casati. In 2006, Marchesa was named one of the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund's top 10 finalists.
Georgina was a judge on the TV show Project Runway: All Starts from 2012 to 2019. A number of A-list celebrities chose Marchesa designs on the red carpet like: Blake Lively, Eva Longoria, Kerry Washington, Katy Perry, Karolina Kurkova among others.
4- Vera Wang
Vera Wang began her journey in the fashion industry by working at Vogue magazine where she was assistant fashion director, to get promoted at only the age of 23 as fashion editor. When she failed to choose a gown for herself while shopping for dresses for weddings she decided to design her own and later-on opened her own bridal boutique. Her sexy womens dress designs have taken the world by a storm and soon enough her dresses for weddings got featured in numerous television shows such as Ugly Betty, Sex and the City and many more.
Her distinct vision and unique edgy style have Vera Wang wedding dresses the talk of the town with a number of A-list celebrities rocking the look such as Sarah Hyland, Gwen Stefani, Hailey Bieber, Ariana Grande and so many others.
5- Nicole Cavallo - Founder of Nicole Milano
