Your Guide to Plus Size Wedding Dresses!
- July 12, 2022
Shopping can be a bittersweet moment, especially for plus size girls. It can be both an enjoyable time and a devastating time for young girls with insecurities. Some might even refrain from any type of shopping in order to protect their sanity and mental health from the self-destructive judgements and criticism. This among other issues hunt every girl with insecurities, so what if she's looking for plus size wedding dresses ?
With that being said, I think we can all relate to that particular point, one way or another, when we shocking truth dawns down on us that we're no longer the same size. Can you imagine how she might feel trying to find the perfect dress while staying conscience if how she looks? Well, we do! Tat's why we'll be giving you some tips and tricks on how to get ready for your appointment and what to look for in a plus size wedding dress!
1- Choose your bridal entourage wisely!
This goes without saying! Whether you're a plus size bride or not, choosing the right people to be with you on your bridal appointment is crucial. First, having people who share the same thoughts and opinions as you makes it easier to find the perfect bridal gown. Second, limiting your appointment attendees helps you focus on your own personal preferences rather than what others think. Third and most importantly, do not bring with you anyone who might body-shame you and point out your insecurities. Remember, this is your big day and you get to make the decisions! Take your bestfriend, mom, sister, anyone that will tear up seeing you in a white wedding dress!
2- Nothing will show on your wedding day !
Even though you might be thinking it's the end of the world if you have a bigger tummy, chubbier arms or larger chest, on your wedding day nothing will show! Esposacouture creative director Kristie Romanos, reassured brides-to-be in an interview that no insecurities will show in a wedding dress! Couture dresses are designed in a way that will cinch in your body and sculpt it, hiding away all the "problematic" parts and showing only the feminine and delicate shape.
If you're insecure about your arms for example, I advise you go for an off-the-shoulder gown. What this specific neckline does is that it deters that attention from your arms to your neckline and shoulders. This gives you a feminine look and shows off a comfort area for you.
3- Go for an A-line dress!
An A-line wedding dress is universally known to flatter all body types. Whether you're plus size or slim, chances are this dress will suit you perfectly! If you're an apple shape, meaning you have a larger tummy, an A-line gown will do the trick by hiding your problem area under its layers of fabric an cinching in your waist. This dress will not only make you look much slimmer, you'll also feel lightweight and comfortable all night long!
The above dress for example would be perfect for an apple shape as it will hide the tummy area, refocusing the attention on your slim waist under the tight corset!

4- Attention to the larger-chested brides!
Having a larger chest can be a blessing in disguise, that's for sure. Sometimes we hate it, other times we love it, but one thing's for sure, on our wedding day, we hate it! Mainly because a larger chest requires support, which eliminates strapless necklines and spaghetti straps from our options. But that's ok, because thick straps and long sleeves are in this season!
Check out that dress with its floral patterns and long train. It's perfect for all body shapes, hides the problem areas perfectly and most importantly gives you support with thick straps. Wearing a cut such as this one not only will make you look stunning, but will also makes you feel relaxed and secure.
Long sleeves!
Another option that will steal the show for sure is this sweetheart neckline with long sheer sleeves. These types of dresses are perfect for multiple reasons:
1- The sweetheart neckline gives you a romantic look.
2- The sheer long sleeves give your arms the illusion of being slimmer.
3- The corset will define your waist.
4- The A-line cut will hide any tummy or hips!
Now that we've walked you through some of our own personal styles, all you need to do is book your appointment at one of our locations and let's do this!
